Bluffton Presbyterian Church was organized on June 6, 1849 in a grove west of Bluffton. Until 1852, services were held in a log school house. In 1852 the first church building was erected on the current downtown property. In 1887 the current building was built. The exterior remains much like the original except the steeple was destroyed by fire in 1919. In the 1950's the congregation grew by joining with Rockport Presbyterian Church.
